I only have one child. I decided to only breast feed him and I thought I had the milk he needed. so he was crying, and crying every time I would put him down in his crib. he would only calm down when having the nipple in his mouth. I went to ask a specialized breastfeeding consultant…. they insisted on me having him to my chest and make sure he moves his mouth actively to take milk. the 20 min on a side, 20 min on another every 2-3 hours or so….don’t remember…. then I heard about cluster-feeding…. while my son was literally starving with me next to him. he would sleep well throughout the night but cranky and crying during daytime. So I went to the dr and asked what can I do. the baby wasn’t yet loosing weight, but not gaining either. once I introduced some formula after breastfeeding every time first, he would be so happy and good little boy. now he is a relative good eater and he’s 4 and very funny and smart little boy. I still blame myself for not listening completely my instincts in the beginning. So, in my case, no colicky baby, no sick but HUNGRY baby that wouldn’t stop crying until fed well. I advice, before you decide a method to calm down your child, check everything possible and make sure your baby doesn’t have other needs.

Supporting cry it out is toxic. Especially from a medical source. Please provide research citations that support developmental benefits of cry it out. There are multiple studies that have observed elevated cortisol levels in babies who are left to cry, even after they stop. Crying is not self soothing. Babies cannot self soothe. They have a biological need for closeness and care. Please get informed and stop spreading non science.

@amber rei babies are amazing technology sweety, I’ve unlocked so many doors in my own mind listening to babies babble played backward children woke up and realized I was trying to make contact with an alien language and allow me to communicate with them via the mind. body language helps us determine where the adults are in life. I haven’t been able to fully grasp the message they have but I get the picture. oh wait, I did get a signal. babies know me for being the Father based on my ability to use tools that make sense. forcing myself to sleep in a baby’s crib forces my spinal cord to relax and self regenerate. it’s kinda cool. the knowledge that helps my spine regen makes my life somewhat livable, somewhat

@Yasmin Tamimi All I can tell you is that leaving him cry until he falls asleep is ridiculous. Children need comfort, knowing that mommy is there to comfort them and keeping them on a tight schedule time wise is just a matter of control on moms part. Keeping kids on a routine is fine but doing what this woman does is ridiculous and does NOT comfort the child.

I breastfed all five of mine and they slept in my bed with Mee granted not all at once lol but I feel keeping them with the security is good for their empathy development I mean come on been in A womb for nine months then whipped away I think that is wrong

My baby is nine months old, just learned to stand up in the crib. Wakes up at 3am and starts to climb up the crib and stand up all the time, no minute of rest for us or him. Is it right to let him do it till he gets tired and eventually sleeps? Actually there s nothing else to do on these moments because nothing else works.

I don’t give up on children of any age. I take notes. watch and listen. if things get out of hand. then I’ll do my thing. which technically I am doing my thing. staying out of the greedy adults way while they plan to wipe out every living species I ever created. can’t fix stupid

G Scarlatti ACTUALLY WE ARE NOT OKAY! WE ARE SHOOTING PEOPLE JUST BECAUSE OF THEIR SEXUAL PREFERENCE OR RELIGION. WE ARE VOTING FOR DONALD TRUMP. OBVIOUSLY WE DID NOT TURN OUT OKAY

Cry it out does increase levels of the stress hormone cortisol. That is proven. Also, for people who don’t think it is harmful, I urge you to look into attachment theory. Every parent definitely should make their own decision in regard to their baby. I just urge you to research. 🙂

do you know why religion failed? religion failed because of the ones who run the churches, had they been handing out money to whoever whenever. they’d be in the clear. they’re not even close evil grin

@Isabel Prosper Got ya. Does she scream/cry before actually falling asleep? That’s where my LO needs some work on she usually starts getting “restless” around 9ish and sometimes cries until around 11-1am no lie!!! She hates the darkness too and makes us walk her until she falls asleep. She is a handful cute but a handful lol

    2. Isabel Prosper

Double Days Family my LO is still feisty at night. It’s like she wants to hang out until she can’t take it anymore. I try to put her down for sleep at 8:30 and she eventually agrees to sleep after 10:30pm.

@Isabel Prosper Aw that’s Awesome love! Huge accomplishment! I can’t wait for my littlest one to get there, she is just so feisty at night lol Thank you for responding you give me so much hope ?

    4. Isabel Prosper

Double Days Family yes! She is now turning and rolling. Getting her to sleep is still not perfect all the time. Sometimes she self soothes and falls asleep within minutes and other times I have to help her fall asleep with a lullaby and rocking. My LO is now 15 weeks.
