There is still one place left in Kolkata where the demons in my head remind of a lonelier time..

Beginning its journey in 1973, Rehabilitation Centres for Children (RCFC), was established by some amazing people with a vision and a mission to improve the quality of the life of children with orthopaedic deformity.

So thanks to its founder, Jane Webb (OBE), I was able to have treatment here and RCFC was really the place where the bond between me and Patricia was created.

Children stay at RCFC for between 3 to 9 months. And During their rehabilitation they get schooling in classes such drama, maths and music, but also physiotherapy and 24 hour medical care. This includes making orthotics and other assistive devices, such as callipers all free of charge.

I left RCFC knowing the demons that were in my head won’t pass onto these children who will have a happier memory of RCFC then I did.
