A doctor thats confident enough to perform the surgery on his own son is a doctor you can trust.
@Anthony Ashcraft Yeah, its also life changing to suffer permanent side effects which can trigger even years after LASIK. Such as post lasik corneal ectasia, post lasik corneal neuralgia or post lasik higher order aberrations which, guess what? Can no longer be corrected with glasses or regular contacts anymore. Some of us are just trying to warn people of these complications which LASIK clinics normally do not inform to “avoid scaring customers”. I don’t really care if you get LASIK or had LASIK. But please be smarter with your arguments… no one is saying every medical procedure should be banned ?
@Alex You’re an idiot.
Or maybe he is just crazy. Since this is a medically unnecessary eye surgery.
@Joel Sampa Yeah, we know. It’s completely cosmetic, but for those of us who have been wearing glasses or contacts for years and years, not having to anymore is life-changing. Many people get cosmetic surgeries for a multitude of reasons, and all of those reasons are fair and valid. Mind your business.
i just had my Lasik surgery last week. so this is what it looks like on the other side! ?
Did you feel any pain ?
You can see the dividends payout more clear now. XD
Me either about 2 weeks now, so blur I near sight. I hope getting better soon
@Alberto Santana No, the procedure is painless. All you’ll feel is a bit of pressure. Your eyes may sting a bit as they heal, but it shouldn’t be too hard to deal with.
Thanks for your channel. It’s giving me the ability to face my upcoming cataract surgery. Good luck to you and yours
Really enjoyed watching your video. What a beautiful family. Congratulations!
beautiful family great job doc appreciated the video…
im getting my lasik surgery this friday and this video calmed my anxiety, im turning 19 in 5 months so this also calmed my parents anxiety at my decision doing the surgery at a young age. thank you so much! loved it.
@ridddiii a still seeing good?
it went very smooth! my eyes felt a little weird after the procedure but i’m seeing 20/20!
@Farmatarm lolfr
@Shannon Wong, MD What is the minimum cornea thickness you would feel comfortable working on for lasik…Im trying to do it soon but I’ve been recommended 3 different things….1) lasik 2)prk 3) its not safe for either….I just feel like I should get a fourth opinion beacuse I have 3 different answers
@ridddiii a hlo ?congrats how is your vision now
Great video Shannon, quick question though.
Do you recommend me getting lasik eye surgery? I just turned 18 a week ago & my prescription is -1.75(L) -2.00(R). Thanks!
I’m an undergrad working on my AS degree in biology. I’m going to be graduating soon. What bachelors degree do I major in for ophthalmology?
I did it yesterday and it was very simple . Thanks God , I see very well now . Don’t worry about it just do it ❤️
Wonderful outcome…I had RK in the 1990’s in one eye and then Lasik in the other. Lasik was less invasive, less paid and overall vision was better and no issues at night time such as glare, rings/halo’s etc. Now, preparing for cataract replacements, I’m told the premium lenses will not work in my case due to the Lasik and RK procedures. Was told had they measured my eyes prior to those operations, they’d have a better idea what to do with premium lenses but without those measurements prior to, all they can do is correct distance vision with a normal lens. I one done and it’s 20/20 vision. Round two in a few weeks. Unbelievable to see clearly again and without the yellow/tan tint and blurred cataracts for the past 8 years since they started.
We place the symphony lens in patient with prior RK and LASIK regularly. The results are excellent. Typical case: https://youtu.be/LXovqPGm0sc.
I’ve been wearing glasses for almost 13 years now and really want to have a laser surgery when I turn 18. So can’t wait to be 18 soon.
@Dev doesn’t it burn ur eye or something
Did You performed iLASIK on your son ? What was his eye power before the surgery ? Why didn’t you go for a flapless procedure, like ICL? As Lasik is irreversable
Very Nice!! Really enjoyed this.
My local place performs Interlase lasik, I was thinking of getting LASIK and did an exam.
Starting to get a little nervous reading all the horror stories but overall I think that is a good thing being a little nervous.
Im just sick and tired of the world being a blur without my glasses. Im at close to -6 with a small astigmatism.
This video helps a lot and I think it is very kind of you to make it and still continue to comment on it. That alone has earned a subscription from me.
In your opinion is interlase lasik worth the extra pricetag? They also give two years of follow up care.
it is so sweet father and son moment!
When did your sons vision stabilise and what was his prescription
Hey, is it normal to have a headaches a few days after lasik? Is it related at all or just a coincidence?
Really bad headache.
It is one thing for a doc to have good reviews for procedures, but the fact that he did it on his own kid should show everyone how safe it is.
great video! i’m interested in opthamology and randomly came across this video. I also attend st.stephens like your sons what a small world.
why he’s getting it so early? Lasik has specific age to have it done. I think 25 and above not 18.
