LASIK Eye Surgery Experience | What to Expect Before & After Surgery

Contact us to Add Your Hospital

Dr. Denton is back to discuss a little more about LASIK and what to expect when you get refractive surgery. Make sure that you are the right candidate for the surgery and that you have had an annual exam performed by your Optometrist. During your exam, let your Optometrist know you are interested in LASIK. After running extra tests, they will refer you to a LASIK expert in your area. Many LASIK centers offer complimentary screenings and offer information about what to expect and pricing. Continue watching as Dr. Denton explains post-LASIK surgery. #LASIKSurgery #LASIK

@The OG Raccoon it went great! Using my antibiotic eye drops and my normal dry eye drops. No pain at all. I truly recommend it. Was pretty nervous but my surgeon was awesome and calmed me down.

I want laser eye surgery bc it worked out so well for the two people I know who had it done. But I’m so so so so scared and worried and anxious about it going badly or about having really horrible side effects

I haven’t had it done personally so I can’t speak to what it feels like. My patients reports on that vary. Some say they can feel it and others can’t. You are numbed and they give you something to relax you. In regards to getting LASIK every time your prescription changes, no that’s not viable. Patients having LASIK are typically used to having pretty significantly reduced vision from being near sighted before the surgery, and afterwards they are 20/15 or 20/20 without correction. After many years there is typically a slight refraction that comes up and some patients elect to have driving at night glasses while others end up back in a progressive once they’re over 40 and need help us close. You can have LASIK retouched but that does increase the risk of post surgical complications like dry eye, epithelial ingrowth, etc. I typically don’t recommend it unless there has been a large refractive shift. Full discaimer: I’m pretty conservative when it comes to LASIK and take great care to reduce the risk of post-surgical complications. My training showed me the worst of what can happen so admittedly I am more apprehensive than most docs.

It’s really horrible that half of the comments on this video are men obsessing over you. They’re gross and sexist. Thank you so much for this information, when I failed my eye test to get my driver’s license I immediately started considering LASIK and this video has been so helpful

@J Swizzy Actually, if you open up one of the accounts who commented on his attraction, youtube shows you that this dude in particular has commented the same things multiple times on different videos of hers. Giving no medical questions or helpful comments whatsoever.

    2. Jerry the Magical Llama

@J Swizzy I’m the simp? Y’all are the ones drooling over her. The problem wasn’t that they were “complimenting” her, it’s that this one dude kept commenting over and over again about his attraction to her, and what he likes in a woman, etc. That’s sexual harassment and if you don’t think it is than you’ve probably done it to a woman yourself. 97%.

    3. Jerry the Magical Llama

@Tayeeb Askeri They’re not respectful, they’re obsessing over her. One of the same dudes kept commenting over and over again saying things like “I think I have a thing for older women they’re really attractive to me” and so on. This random woman doesn’t need to know what your fetishes are unprovoked.

I’m trying to find the long term effects of this. Does it have any downside after a successful surgery? Like does it make your eye more sensitive, or does it effect periferap vision?

My eye sight / prescription changes every year. So my eyesight isn’t that stable but the country I am in prefers it not change but it isn’t a requirement in order to get lasik.

Lasik was completely 100% pain free for me. There was a slight discomfort when they put the device on my eyelids to keep them open but that only last 10 seconds. After the procedure, I had mild discomfort for a few hours but I took a pain killer and went to sleep. Woke up normal.

The most annoying thing is having to put the drops in constantly and this feeling that I have something stuck in my eye.

@Devendra Singh gurjar feels weird. can finally wake up and see everything around me. literally everything personally worth it still have glare my eyes don’t hurt just randomly feel heavy but nothing the eye drops weren’t for lol but in all it feels great you get used to the eye drops – also can lay down and watch tv i’ve never done that it feels great
