Doctor Gets Lasik Eye Surgery to Deal With Foggy Glasses

They’re on the front lines of the pandemic, but their glasses are giving them a big problem. Now, some doctors and nurses are opting for Lasik eye surgery to ditch their glasses and get a clearer view of their work. Dr. David Hirsch is an anesthesiologist and says his cloudy glasses are a headache to deal with in the operating room. Registered nurse Raqul Eng says it’s not just her glasses that fog up – so do the goggles and face shield she wears to protect against COVID-19 in her unit. #InsideEdition
Talk about permanent solutions to temporary problems.
I feel like I would just get the surgery even if their wasn’t a virus or problem I would have to hate to wear glasses don’t know how you people do it lol
Not really. It’s a permanent solution for a lot of problems. As someone that uses glasses I can tell you that not being dependent on my glasses might be one the best things in my life
To be fair having 20/20 vision is not the sort of consequence one would specifically avoid, no?
I wear contacts so i can’t relate
@Jackie Cortez there’s other alternatives beside laser, I’ve been wearing contacts for 7 years and every subscription per year is $150
“Twenty-two hundred dollars an eye” – inside edition.
My eyes doesn’t even see $2200 on my paycheque.
Lmao
@Hats A it is. Trust me
@Jeremyadriano bro I pay 600+ a year. I’ve been doing this since I was 5 and now I’m 16. Calculate that
@Poop Poop Lasik may not be covered by medical insurance they don’t see it as medically necessary more as cosmetic surgery…
Well it’s $2200 but if you have insurance they will pay most of it..
“$2200 an eye”
Me: “Just one please”
Also me: *Looking at people with one eye like Kakashi with a sharingan.
Life hacks be like “Scrub hand sanitizer on your glasses” legit I was like bruh
@illumi I know you don’t
@Steven Seth idgaf
Toothpaste ???
as an air softer that deals with foggy goggles during games, I drop a little dish soap into the inside of the goggles. It kinda works, better than nothing.
@Strawberry you did it wrong then
Shouldn’t the masks not be a recent problem for the anesthesiologist considering he’s always had to be in the OR with a mask?
@GRIZZLE, I was thinking the same thing.
Anesthesiologists didn’t always have to wear masks… I had surgery twice at 2 different hospitals over the past 10 years (1 for a kidney issue & 1 for a collapsed lung) & the anesthesiologists never had any mask on at either hospital. It’s only a huge deal now because of Covid. I feel for them, because I also wear glasses & since it’s gotten cold out, I can’t see anything when I have a mask on due to the fog. :/ I wish I could afford Lasik! I have enough medical issues already.. ?
because of the winter it is cold outside making the glasses fog up
Thats what im saying its like bro you been doing this bruh foggy glasses aint new to you
You’re right about that, but maybe covid was a push to get the surgery done since they have to wear masks all the time now- hence the fog becoming more bothersome
“i can hardly see”
*proceeds to walk and put on stuff naturally and normally*
Well yeah standing there doesn’t help either. This happened to me yesterday you cant see clearly but you can see objects
I don’t think you guys realize that they’re doctors, they need laser focus and vision in order to complete their job correctly. Putting your glasses over your mask can cause slippage and most surgical masks can’t hold the glasses on the nose bridge because of the way they’re built. Just think about both sides before you form your opinion please.
you can still see, but everything is blurry ish
@Grrrrr UwU Depends on the model of glasses. I have three, the whole put it over your mask thing only works with one. Nose bridge structure can affect it too
Some_ Idiot your name fits
or you could put the glasses over the nose part of the mask so it doesn’t fog up… it works for me
Yeah me too but I want that surgery
@nekoiqo Or just stay home 🙂
or don’t wear a mask 😉
Yeah same
Its different for the type of mask and the type of glasses.
Now I know what people meant when they were saying we’re all going to have 2020 vision
@Audrey G damn that one went RIGHT over my head.????♂️?♂️?♂️?♂️
?
It is actually 20/20 it is a fraction
I love how they talk about the surgery like everyone should get it but when we all hear that price tag of 2,200 dollars per eye then we change our minds
Deception was the story reality was the price ???
They’re doctors, there rich.
I think it’s a good investment if u have been having glasses all ur life. I’ve had glasses ever since I was 3 ?. Tbh though 5000k for laser eye surgery is probably only a fraction of the amount of money spent on eye appointments, frames, lenses, and therapy.
@Nice Hazardous contacts aren’t really worth it they’re expensive already
Well it’s a lot of money but if you got insurance then it really wouldn’t be much..
Hand itches:
Common Sense: Scratch
This guy: Get me a cleaver, NOW!
you clearly don’t wear glasses besides if you were to clean them on the spot with your shirt you risk scratching the lenses and also it doesn’t exactly clean it if you use your shirt it will smudge it causing it to look dirtier than before
This comment is rude, unfunny, and a total exaggeration. If they want to fix their eyes, them let. Gosh.
how is your example relatable to getting lasik, which is a fairly safe procedure?
You can’t be constantly talking off and defogging your glasses especially as a front line worker.
Fr
I would do this too honestly lmao
@Nice Hazardous Soooo I’m guessing you skipped a few replies. @ShaySlay already answered that for you. Wearing contacts can bring discomfort to them as healthcare workers who work 12 hours a day. They risk getting infections (it’s highly possible if they wear it for days straight) and contact lenses block oxygen flow. It’s common sense that wearing it for 12 hours is unhealthy.
@ᴄʀʏsᴛᴀʟ ᴇ why didnt they put on contacts one the first day? This is common sense
@AgentCody Banx8 They didn’t do it because they didn’t have to, the glasses wouldn’t fog up because they didn’t wear masks nor were they time travellers that knew a pandemic would come that would make them wear a mask. This is pretty basic common sense….
@ShaySlay then why didn’t they get it before the pandemic? They were perfectly fine with their eyes beforehand
I dont know why people make them seem crazy, they wear glasses every day all day and have to for the rest of their lives. Lasik kills 2 birds with 1 stone, and the foggy glasses is just an extra incentive to have to procedure. Not the sole reason to have it done, im sure.
“In a blink 20/20 vision”
Yeah, and 1 week of pain + losing 20/20 vision after surgery and waiting for it to readjust + another 1 month for it to fully stay on 20/20
@NOJ1 Yeah, the initial laser
Wait, what? I thought LASIK is supposedly painless
But it works!
They say that so you’re more likely to be intrigued and want to get it. Kinda like an ad.
So the anesthesiologist didn’t wear a mask in the operating room prior to Covid?
Docors have been wearing masks. So idk why all the sudden now they need lasik
He doesn’t even address the masks. He just talks about how he’s tired of walking in with foggy glasses which has to do with cold weather, not masks
@Hats A lasik has been here for a good amount of time. And isn’t surgery the one place where you don’t want foggy glasses? How do they deal with it there
Exactly they’ve been dealing it for such a long time it’s time they get it lol
Why not, foggy glasses during intricate surgery and now there is a fix…
When performing surgery. But now it’s everyone, all day long. It’s different.
Just put the top of the mask under the rims of your glasses. I do that and they rarely ever fog up, or just get contacts
20/20 vision, nice one inside edition, nice one
it is 20/20 vision thought for the majority
Sees this: *Hopeful*
Hears the cost: **Flips table**
Commercial: Call 1.800.contacts
Doctor: Nah, I’m going to jump straight to surgery.
Maybe it is true smart people’s brain’s decrease the quality of their eyes to boost fps in the brain because the amount of doctors and other personal that tend it wear glasses is usually quite alot
A mask tip from my boyfriend who has to wear glasses, in case you didn’t know: If you twist the straps of your mask, it helps ALOT with the fogging! The air comes out through the sides instead of around your nose, so barealy any fogging:) Hope this helps
Imagine if ppl with covid followed that
@P M but I’m some cases it opens up gaps at the sides thus resulting in a less effective mask depending on the situation such as if someone was sat next to them.
@A no it doesn’t, twisting the straps only make it more secure to the face. I have to twist my straps because the mask doesn’t fit otherwise.

Thank you great tip
