Diabetic Hospital Faridpur– Prof. Mr. Sheikh Abdus Samad (General Secretary) II Faridpur Diabetic Association:
The concept and idea of Diabetic Care in Bangladesh was first thought by our National Professor Dr. Mohammad Ibrahim. He realized that diabetes is such a notorious disease which kills millions of people every year very silently in Bangladesh leaving behind the burden of a lot of morbidity in the society. With the continuation of this idea and view of Late Dr. Mohammad Ibrahim the founder Chairman of Diabetic Association of Bangladesh Faridpur Diabetic Association (FDA) was established on 25 Nov. 1983 with the initiative of Late Dr. Mohammad Zahed a local dedicated social worker. Faridpur Diabetic Association (FDA) is a Non-profitable Voluntary Socio Medical Organization created by Late Dr. Mohammad Zahed with a group of social workers, physicians, Professors Voluntaries and few philanthropists to save the lives of millions of people of southeast region of the country from this silent killer the Diabetes Mellitus.
The Association got the affiliation of Diabetic Association of Bangladesh and started an out patient clinic in 1985 and over the years has turned into a 300 bed hospital. The Association was awarded the full membership of International Diabetes Federation (IDF), a consortium of 220 Diabetes Associations all over the world.
Faridpur Diabetic Association have 10 patrons and 503 life members. The organization is run by elected Executive Committee consisting of 22 members including office bearers elected for a period of 3 years.
Faridpur Diabetic Association provides total healthcare including rehabilitation for all diabetics irrespective of gender, economic and social status. We want "No diabetic should die untreated, unemployed or unfed". For human resources development we are creating requisite specialized quality manpower like Physicians, Technicians, Nurses etc.
